  Marguerith_chavez

Marguerith Chavez

Marguerith immigrated to this country eight years ago to be closer to family and pursue her dream of attending school. When she arrived, the inability to communicate in English was frustrating and challenging. However, the language barrier didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams. She rapidly learned English and embraced the culture. She earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and is now working towards a Masters degree in Human Resources.

What do you think is the biggest obstacle that you have faced in your
career as a Latino (if any)?

"I think that one of the greatest obstacles
I have found wasn’t so much related to a Latino heritage, but
more related to being foreign. My short credit history gave me a disadvantage over my
age group to obtain financing for my projects and training."

Ancestry: "I was born in Argentina of a Belgian mother and Italian father."
